Choose a region for the resource you need
The named region directory distinguishes Plains, Forest, Desert and Volcano, with Swamp marked unfinished. These region names are useful for planning; they should not be read as five fully released biomes.
| Region | What to expect | Useful goal |
|---|---|---|
| Plains | Starting terrain, tutorial and early NPCs | Your first town; Copper Bars from a job-level-2 Miner |
| Forest | Scattered, often near Plains; denser and harder to build in | Exploration; Copper Bars from a job-level-2 Miner |
| Desert | A harder resource and quest stage | Tin Bars from a job-level-2 Miner; Granite Tooth progression |
| Volcano | More hostile terrain and later progression | Iron Bars from a job-level-5 Miner, Volcanic Ash and Core Vessel |
| Swamp | Listed as unfinished | Do not plan a completed quest route around the directory entry |
The Miner figures are profession levels, not Quarry building levels. This is a practical region comparison, not a complete list of every drop or building bonus.
Locations depend on the world seed
Exact region positions change with the seed. Plains and Forest can appear in multiple areas. A description that the Desert is usually in the same general region does not establish a universal compass direction or coordinate.
Mark your town, return route and discovered entrances on your own map. For a first trip into the most hazardous region, use the Volcano preparation guide.
World age matters for dungeons
The 0.26.1 autumn update generated new dungeon content only in new worlds; existing worlds remain available without those new dungeons. Updating the client does not regenerate the entire map.
The October 2 developer update said work on the next major biome was continuing. A database entry or internal biome count alone is not a release announcement for a complete Swamp region.
