Romestead Tin: Desert ore and automated Tin Bars

At a glance

Tin Ore comes from the Desert and is smelted in a burning Blacksmith furnace. A Desert Quarry can instead produce Tin Bars with a Miner at job level 2.

Look in the Desert for Tin Ore

Tin belongs to the Desert resource stage. Bring Tin Ore to a burning Blacksmith furnace, feed in the ore, and collect Tin Bars. Smelting is a physical furnace operation; the absence of a recipe button does not by itself mean you cannot smelt it.

Keep the smelting and alloy steps separate:

Use a Desert Quarry

A Desert Quarry can produce Tin Bars with a Miner at job level 2. A Quarry in the Plains or Forest produces Copper Bars instead, so leveling the same worker will not turn a Plains Quarry into a tin source.

If tin production stalls, check:

  1. The Quarry is actually in the Desert.
  2. A Miner is assigned.
  3. That worker has reached profession level 2.
  4. Hunger has not reduced work efficiency to zero.

Plan around your world

Use the terrain on your own map to find the Desert. World generation changes exact locations, so a tutorial’s southeast route is not a universal coordinate.

Prepare Copper Bars before setting up the Bronze Bar chain, and use logistics once manual transport becomes too slow.
